Hong Kong - Kowloon, Day 2

Day 2. 3am: Ashley tries valiantly to not yell obscenities at the front desk attendant when she receives her wake up call. Singapore is a "fine" city (you can be fined and in extreme cases, jailed, for breaking such laws). 6:50am: Ashley's plane departs Singapore, exhausted but incredibly excited to finally meet up with Jon10:40am: Darth Vader is standing behind Ashley in the custom's line, rhythmically breathing mechanical exhalations down her arm. He is very much inside her personal space bubble. 11:00am: ASHLEY AND JON ARE REUNITED!! After splurging on a taxi, they head to their luxurious hotel room in Kowloon. See photo for additional details on the room.noon: Ashley and Jon arrive at City View, their home away from home. It quickly and valiantly lives up to the picture painted by Jon. Two beds, which when pushed together combined to create one regular sized twin bed, are topped with cardboard pillows. After tripping over the ever present step into the bathroom, Ashley is transported back to a cruise ship sized restroom. Its perfect.Early Afternoon: After filling up the only free space in the room with our refrigerator suitcases, we trip out the door and head to lunch. The thought of eating yet another noodle bowl quickly turned Ashley's stomach so when they pulled out the city map to find a restaurant, the sight of "Outback Steakhouse" lit up like a beacon in the night. It didn't take much to convince Jon :)
Late Afternoon: Jon and Ashley head back to their 'little slice of heaven' and take a fantastic nap...signs of Jon's onset of insanity showed themselves briefly when he kept laughing in his sleep. It took 4 resets of the alarm plus a couple handfuls of GORP to finally wake them up.
Evening: Re showered and map in hand, Ashley and Jon head back out into the sweltering humid city. They catch a cab and head towards the harbor to watch the laser light show across the bay. Jon's gets some fantastic night skyline shots as cruise ships and smaller boats sailed across the foreground with white Christmas lights twinkling on their masts. Next was dinner, dear god let us find somewhere safe and if at all possible, also tasty. Ashley had enjoyed the guidance of their supply chain hosts last week, so fabulous tasty safe meals occurred once every 4 hours or so. Venturing out on one's own is a very different story. They finally settled on a restaurant inside a shopping mall near the Peninsula Hotel. It wasn't until they began the trek back to their table for the two, that the smell of fish, eye balls and death caught their attention. Both sets of pupils dilate in fear. Jon swallows down the bile that has risen into his mouth. Before they're fully seated Ashley says "wanna go" and as Jon stands back up he answers "yes". They end up at a simple cafe eating beef curry and chicken mushroom gratin. Not really Chinese (at all) but "getting it done" for day 1 together in China. Jon's onset of insanity rears its ugly head again, when all of a sudden there's curry splashed across his face, shirt, pants (and a little on the waitress). "What happened?!" Ashley asks. "I slipped," Jon replies. There are so many questions but all Ashley can do is laugh as the waitress tries to dab off the curry hanging from Jon's eyebrows.
Evening: Ashley and Jon return to their room, push together the mini beds and drift off into a happy slumber.
